(Lebanon, Ill., September 21) – The McKendree University women's soccer team looks to climb the national rankings this weekend as it hosts two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) contests with Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis heading to Leemon Field.
Earlier this week, the United Soccer Coaches (USC) released its Top-25 National Rankings that featured the McKendree Bearcats at No. 24. Since the transition to DII in 2012, this is the first time the Bearcats have received a national ranking.
The Bearcats
Heading into week four of the 2017 campaign, junior
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) still leads the conference in points (14), and is tied for the league lead with goals and assists (4). Goaltender
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) sits among conference leaders posting a .392 goals against average ranking her third in the GLVC.
The Rangers
Wisconsin-Parkside heads into Friday's contest at 1-6 overall posting a 0-4 record in the GLVC. Jazmin Castanon and Andrea Eliason hold the Rangers only goals of the 2017 campaign.
The Flyers
Lewis enters the weekend at 3-3 overall with a 2-2 mark in the GLVC. The Flyers open up the weekend at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, a team McKendree upended 3-1 earlier this season. Leading the charge for the Flyers offense is Havelka-Vanderplow who leads the team with three goals and two assists. Jennifer Meyer has played all 544:51 minutes in net posting 33 saves.
