(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 2) – The McKendree University women's volleyball team will play host to Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) foes Southwest Baptist University Friday at 7 p.m. and Drury University Saturday at 3 p.m. The Bearcats are 5-8 overall on the season and 0-2 in GLVC competition.
McKendree opened GLVC play this past weekend with road matches against No. 13 Rockhurst University and William Jewell College. The Bearcats dropped their match against the nationally ranked Hawks, 3-0 and then fell to the Cardinals, 3-0 the following day.
Offensively, junior outside hitter
Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X), senior outside hitter
Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei), and freshman outside hitter
Maddie Misner (Carbondale, IL/Carbondale) are the Bearcats biggest impact players. Russell has recorded 151 total kills and sits in eighth place in the GLVC, Voss is next with 112, and Misner follows with 107. Sophomore middle blocker
Hope Gramly (Prosper, TX/Prosper) deserves an honorable mention with 106 total kills.
Defensively, freshman libero
Amanda Tippett (O'Fallon, MO./St. Dominic ), Voss, and junior setter
Gracie Marr (Castle Rock, CO/Castle View) run the back line. Tippett has accumulated 175 total digs on the season, Voss is next with 133 digs, and Marr is close behind with 118 total digs. At the net for the Bearcats defense is senior middle blocker
Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown) and Gramly. Marks currently sits in seventh place in the GLVC with 53 total blocks on the season while Gramly has tallied 34 total blocks.
McKendree will continue its home stand with a Tuesday match against Southern Indiana at 7 p.m. and a Thursday match against Lindenwood starting at 7 p.m. as well.

Southwest Baptist is 2-12 overall on the season an 0-2 in the GLVC. The Bearcats are new to the GLVC this year as a school, they have been a part of the league for football for a few years. ABOUT DRURY UNIVERSITY:
Drury university is 8-7 overall with a 2-0 start to GLVC competition. The Panthers made it to the GLVC finals in 2018 falling short to Rockhurst, 3-1. Drury went on to compete in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional where they made it to the semifinals but dropped the semifinals match to Lewis University, 3-1.
