(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 7) – The McKendree University women's volleyball team is set to close out its four-match homestand with mid-week games against the University of Southern Indiana on Tuesday and Lindenwood University on Thursday. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
The Bearcats are coming off of a split weekend in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) competition after defeating Southwest Baptist 3-0 on Friday and then falling to Drury in a hard-fought five set match, 3-2 on Saturday. McKendree is 6-9 overall on the season and 1-3 in GLVC play.
Offensive leaders for the Bearcats are junior outside hitter
Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X), sophomore middle blocker
Hope Gramly (Prosper, TX/Prosper), and senior outside hitter
Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei). Russell leads the pack with 173 total kills, Gramly is next with 125, and Voss is close behind with 123 total kills on the season. Junior setter
Gracie Marr (Castle Rock, CO/Castle View) has assisted the Bearcat offense 573 times this season.
Defensive leaders at the net for McKendree are senior middle blocker
Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown) and Gramly. Marks has recorded 61 total blocks on the season, the most for the Bearcats and the seventh highest in the GLVC. Gramly set a new career best in number of blocks tallied in one match on Saturday with 13 total blocks against Drury, putting her at 52 total blocks on the season.
On the back line for the Bearcats' defense is freshman libero
Amanda Tippett (O'Fallon, MO./St. Dominic ), Marr, and Voss. Tippett leads the group with 191 total digs on the season, Marr is next with 143 digs, and Voss is right behind Marr with 142 total digs.
McKendree will wrap up competition this week with a match at the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday at 3 p.m., in St. Louis, Mo.
