(ELKHART, Ind., Feb. 11) – The McKendree University swimming and diving program began the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championships on Wednesday at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center. To close out the meet,
Fabio Dalu (Cagliari, Italy/Liceo L.B. Alberti Cagliari) broke the NCAA Division 2 national record in the mile (1650 freestyle) - becoming the first Division II swimmer to break the 15 minute barrier.
Day 1 Highlights
After the first day, the men's team sits in fifth place and the women sit in fourth place.
-The men's 200 medley relay team of
DaVante Carey (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College),
Henrik Dahrendorff (Beckum, Germany/SC Magdeburg),
Gregg Lichinsky (West Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley High School), and
Caleb Law (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service) placed fourth with a time of 1:27.71.
-In the 1000 yard freestyle,
Fabio Dalu (Cagliari, Italy/Liceo L.B. Alberti Cagliari) captured a first place finish and broke the meet record with a time of 8:57.35 (NCAA – A cut). Teammate
Charlie Fraser-Allen (London, England/Highgate Wood Secondary School) placed eighth with a time of 9:22.01 (NCAA – B cut).
-In the 50 freestyle, Lichinsky placed first and broke the meet record with a time of 19.70 (NCAA – A cut). Senior captain
Xander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School) placed tenth with a time of 20.34 (NCAA – B cut).
-The men's 200 freestyle relay team of
Xander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School), Law,
Taras Zherebetskyy (Alghero, Sardegna, Italy/ITS "Angelo Roth"), and Lichinsky placed third with a time of 1:20.28.
-The women's 200 medley relay team of Abby Rumpp,
Grace Credit (La Grange Highlands, IL/Lyons Township),
Victoria Sananikone (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park High School), and
Haley Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia) placed seventh with a time of 1:47.89.

Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville) placed tenth in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:24.07 (NCAA – B cut).
-The women's 200 freestyle relay team of
Haley Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia), Rumpp, Credit, and
Emily Drabick (Barto, PA/Boyertown Area Senior High) placed fourth with a time of 1:36.87.
-On the diving side, freshman
Regan Gubera (Jamestown, IN/Western Boone) placed fourth in 1-meter diving with a score of 387.1. Teammate Lili de Oliveria Pelaez placed sixth with a score of 355.1.
Day 2 Highlights
-In the men's 100 butterfly, Lichinsky won another gold with a time of 46.62, a new GLVC record (NCAA – A cut).
-Dalu broke another conference record in the 400 individual medley with a time 3:47.37 (NCAA – A cut).

John Bodden (George Town, Cayman Islands/Cayman Prep and High) placed fifth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:38.96 (NCAA – B cut).
-The men's 400 medley relay captured gold and broke the fifth GLVC record with a time of 3:10.74. The relay team of Carey, Dahrendorff, Lichinsky, and Skinner.
-On the boards,
Ethan Larson (Anchorage, AK/PAIDAIE Cooperative School) placed third in 3-meter diving with a score of 426.25. Teammate
Xavier Flores (Fresno, CA/Clovis West High School) placed eighth with a score of 379.45.
-In the women's 100 butterfly,
Vanda Voroshazy (Herceghalom, Hungary/Saint Joseph) finished in fifth place with a time of 56.45. Teammate Sananikone finished closely behind in sixth with a time of 56.68.

Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville) finished the 400 individual medley in eighth place with a time of 4:26.70 (NCAA – B cut).
Day 3 Highlights
After day three, the men's team sits in fifth place and the women sit in fourth place.
-Dalu broke his third individual conference record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:21.03 (NCAA – A cut). Fraser-Allen followed closely behind coming in tenth with a time of 4:31.02 (NCAA – B cut).
-In the 100 backstroke, Carey came in second with a time of 47.61 (NCAA – B cut).
-Dahrendorff posted a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.89 (NCAA – B cut). Teammate
Filipe Pinheiro () placed ninth with a time of 54.61 (NCAA – B cut).

Noah Javens (West Lafayette, IN/William Henry Harrison) placed seventh in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:48.90 (NCAA – B cut).
-The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Skinner, Dalu, Fraser-Allen, and Bodden captured third place with a time of 6:34.40.
-On the women's side, Sananikone placed fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.14 (NCAA – B cut). Teammate Voroshazy placed seventh with a time of 2:07.52 and
Haley Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia) placed tenth with a time of 2:08.50.
-The women's 800 free relay team of Dixon, Sananikone,
Molly Smalley (Windhoek, Namibia/Plymouth College), and Voroshazy, placed fourth with a time of 7:44.84.
-On the boards for the women, freshman Gubera placed fourth with 376.20 points and junior de Oliveria Pelaez placed fifth with 363.15 points.
Day 4 Highlights
-Dalu opened the session with a NCAA Division II national record in the mile (1650 freestyle) with a time of 14:55.42. This makes Dalu the first swimmer in Division II to break the 15 minute barrier (NCAA—A cut).
-Lichinsky broke his third individual conference record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.57 (NCAA—A cut). Teammate Skinner placed tenth with a time of 44.17 (NCAA—B cut).
-Dahrendorff placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:58.94 (NCAA—B cut). Teammate
Filipe Pinheiro () placed sixth with a time of 2:00.36.
-The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Skinner, Law, Dalu, and Lichinsky placed third with a time of 2:55.64.
-On the boards for the men, Larson placed second with 433.80 points in 1-meter diving.
-On the women's side, Dixon placed eighth in the mile (1650 freestyle) with a time of 17:28.43.
-The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Voroshazy, Abby Rumpp, Rey, and Dixon placed fourth with a time of 3:29.71.
