LEBANON, Ill. – The McKendree University men's and women's cross country will return a total of five runners each from the 2020 season. Head coach Agne Eggerth returns for her third season as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country team.
The Bearcat men return all five members from the 2020 season and have added two freshmen for 2021, while the Bearcat women also return five members from a season ago, along with adding two incoming freshmen.
McKendree's men's top returning runner in 2021 is sophomore Seth Kasinger (Pekin, Ill/Pekin Community), who was the top finisher for the Bearcats at last season's Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships. In addition to Kasinger the next top returner is senior Jimmy Reed (Belleville, Ill/Belleville West).
The other returners from the 2020 season are senior Devin Caswell (New Athens, Ill/New Athens), senior Meshar Rogers-Prince (Apopka, Fla/Apopka), and junior Isaac Winter (Highland, Ill/Highland).
The Bearcats also added two incoming freshmen in Rodney Holas (Belleville, Ill/Althoff Catholic) and Braden Voss (Belleville, Ill/Althoff Catholic).
Meanwhile, on the women's side, the top returner is senior Madelyn Tepe (Venedy, Ill./Okawville), who was the top finisher at the GLVC Championship meet. In addition to Tepe the next top returner is redshirt sophomore Deimante Bedalyte (Vilnius, Lithuania/Vilniaus Simono Daukanto Gimnazija).
The other returners for the women from the 2020 season are senior Kayla Tirey (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), redshirt junior Tiarah Phillips (Springfield, Ill./Springfield Southeast) and sophomore Riley Bishop (Grayslake, Ill./Warren Township).
Along with five returners, the women have added two incoming freshmen - Abby Holcomb (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) and Reagan Lucas (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg).
The Bearcat men's and women's cross country teams open the 2021 season on Sept. 3 at the Saint Charles Community College Cross Country Opener in Cottleville, Mo. The Bearcats will return to action on Sept. 17 at the Bradley University Intercollegiate in Peoria, Ill.
The Bearcats continue their season on Sept. 24 at the H.W. Wright Classic in Decatur, Ill., which is followed by an appearance at the Border Wars Classic in Elsah, Ill., on Oct. 8.
After the Border Wars Classic, the Bearcats will have 15 days off before competing at the GLVC Championship meet in Romeoville, Ill. on Oct. 23. The Bearcats will finish the season in Evansville, Ind., at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, which is scheduled for Nov. 6.
