INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The McKendree University women's golf team is ranked 12th in the initial NCAA Division II East Regional rankings that were recently released by the NCAA.
McKendree, who is one eight schools from the Great Lakes Valley Conference ranked in the initial NCAA East Regional rankings, sits behind No. 11 Lewis and in front of No. 13 Saginaw Valley State University. The other GLVC teams besides McKendree and Lewis are UIndy at No. 2, UMSL at No. 4, Lindenwood at No. 7, Southern Indiana at No. 15, Drury at No. 16 and Rockhurst at No. 17.
This year's NCAA Division II East Regional Championships are scheduled for May 2-4 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo., and will feature a total of 15 teams and six individuals with the winner of the GLVC Championships earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
During the fall season, the Bearcats recorded two second place tournament finishes as they were the runners-up at the Lady Panther Invitational hosted by Drury University and was the runner-up at the Kentucky Wesleyan College Fall Invitational.

Imogen Rafferty (Derbyshire, England/Trent College) made history by winning by winning her first three collegiate tournaments as she captured medalist honors at the Screaming Eagles Fall Invitational after shooting a 5-over par 149 to win by four shots, before winning medalist honors at the Lady Panther Fall Invitational after recording a 1-over par 145 for 36 holes to win by eight shots and then she won first place honors at the Flyer Intercollegiate after shooting a 2-over par 146 to win by five shots. Rafferty was named a GLVC Golfer of the Week on Oct. 7.
In addition to being ranked 12th in the initial NCAA East Regional rankings, the Bearcats are ranked 85th in the most recent Golfstat.com Division II team rankings.
The Bearcats are scheduled to open its 2022 spring season on March 10-11 as they compete at the Legacy Invitational hosted by Winona State University and held at the Legacy Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
