INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Great Lakes Valley Conference - McKendree University men's soccer sophomore defender / midfielder
Rhys Davies made it a career weekend with a pair of goals, including his first collegiate score and game-winner, earning his first career GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Davies scored in both victories as the Bearcats defeating Ohio Dominican and Cedarville during an Ohio road trip.
The Waipu, New Zealand-native tallied the first score of the season, which also served as the game-winner over the Panthers. He then put up another score in the 3-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets, helping McKendree push past the host. Davies added his first collegiate point in 2022 with an assist but had found the back of the net until the opener of the 2023 campaign. The sophomore put up four points in the opening weekend, which sits tied atop the GLVC along with his two goals in as many games. Over his full-time on the pitch, Davies fired two shots, which both were on-frame.Â
