Men's Soccer Tallies D2CCA All-American, All-Region Honors Going into Final Four

Herluf, Schubert Collect D2CCA All-American Selections

LEBANON, Ill. | D2CCA - McKendree University men's soccer added a plethora of postseason honors to its resume on Tuesday with sophomore goalkeeper Christian Herluf and graduate defender Matteo Schubert each being named to D2CCA's All-American selections following four Bearcats being named to All-Region teams in Herluf, Schubert, freshman defender Philipp Muehlhans, and senior midfielder Philipp Schmidt. Herluf, Schubert, and Muehlhans each collected First Team All-Midwest honors while Schmidt was given the Second Team All-Region nod. McKendree continues its season in the NCAA Division II National Semifinal on Thursday, December 12 at 6:00PM ET against Lynn, the other unbeaten team in NCAA DII.

FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN / Christian Herluf | Sophomore | Goalkeeper
Herluf, the GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC honoree, added to his shining resume with further postseason nods, collecting both First Team All-Region and now First Team All-American laurels. The sophomore leads the country in goals allowed average (0.450) and shutouts (14) while sitting second in save percentage (0.855) and third in goalie minutes played (1998:20). Herluf also has made his mark in the program's record books with the single-season and career shutout marks at 14 (both in 2023 and 2024) and 28 career clean sheet performances.

SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN / Matteo Schubert | Graduate | Defender
Schubert, a staple in the lineup for five seasons, got the First Team All-American nod from D2CCA after picking up GLVC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC honors already. Leading up to his D2CCA All-American selection, Schubert also collected First Team All-Region honors from D2CCA. The defender has started all 22 games with over 2,000 minutes played so far while owning two goals and five assists, including the winner over UMSL in the GLVC Quarterfinal round. Schubert also owns the McKendree program record for games played and started, starting all played 90 career contests since 2020, when he joined the Bearcats.
