KANSAS CITY, Mo. | United Soccer Coaches - McKendree University men's soccer, which is spending its week in Matthews, North Carolina, for the NCAA Division II College Cup, continued to bring in postseason honors with five Bearcats earning USC All-Midwest Region honors, including three First Team selections in sophomore goalkeeper Christian Herluf, senior midfielder Philipp Schmidt, and graduate defender Matteo Schubert. The trio of First Team honorees were joined by a Second Team selection in freshman defender Philipp Muehlhans and a Third Team nod in freshman forward Adam Reiniger. The awards come following further postseason laurels via D2CCA and earlier this winter from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. McKendree continues its postseason push in the NCAA Division II National Semifinal on Thursday, December 12 at 6:00PM ET against Lynn, the other unbeaten team in NCAA DII. 

FIRST TEAM ALL-MIDWEST / Christian Herluf | Sophomore | Goalkeeper
Herluf, the GLVC Goalkeeper of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC honoree, added to his shining resume with further postseason nods, collecting both First Team All-Region and now First Team All-American laurels from the D2CCA . The sophomore leads the country in goals allowed average (0.450) and shutouts (14) while sitting second in save percentage (0.855) and third in goalie minutes played (1998:20). Herluf also has made his mark in the program's record books with the single-season and career shutout marks at 14 (both in 2023 and 2024) and 28 career clean sheet performances.

FIRST TEAM ALL-MIDWEST / Matteo Schubert | Graduate | Defender
Schubert, a staple in the lineup for five seasons, got the First Team All-American nod from D2CCA most recently before his USC All-Region award after picking up GLVC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-GLVC honors already. Leading up to his D2CCA All-American selection, Schubert also collected First Team All-Region honors from D2CCA. The defender has started all 22 games with over 2,000 minutes played so far while owning two goals and five assists, including the winner over UMSL in the GLVC Quarterfinal round. Schubert also owns the McKendree program record for games played and started, starting all played 90 career contests since 2020, when he joined the Bearcats.

FIRST TEAM ALL-MIDWEST / Philipp Schmidt | Senior | Midfielder
Schmidt gets the First Team All-Midwest nod following another impressive season leading the Bearcats after he received other postseason laurels via D2CCA and the GLVC. On the year, the midfielder leads the squad in goals (7), assists (6), and points (20) while firing three game-winning scores while logging just under 1900 minutes going into the semifinal round. His previous postseason nods include D2CCA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-GLVC. He has put up single-season highs for his career in all major categories while starting all 22 games for McKendree, including 11 games playing full-time.
