GENEVA, Ohio – McKendree University men's swimming swam to another second place finish as well as two top 15 finishes on Wednesday at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.
Freshman Christian Davidson advanced out of the preliminaries in the 1000 freestyle and swam a 9:08.68 in the finals for ninth place.
Sophomore Mario Perez Torrado, the GLVC 50 freestyle champion, swam a 19.79 in the finals of the 50 freestyle to finish in 13th place.
In the final race of the day, a team comprised of junior Patryk Rozenek, senior Filipe Pinheiro, junior Jackson Lustig, and Perez Torrado set a school record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:24.96. This bested the previous school record of 1:25.29 set in 2020. The time also marked the second-fastest time ever for the 200 medley relay in Division II, just 0.5 seconds behind the new Division II record set by Indianapolis in the same race.
Competition at the NCAA Championships continues on Thursday with the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, and women's three-meter diving.
