ELKHART, Ind. - No. 6 McKendree University men's swim and dive brought a booming performance on night four of the GLVC championship, taking home 14 medals across five events.
Sophomore Christan Davidson got the night started for the Bearcats with a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:24.75. He was joined on the podium by senior Leo Gandaria-Hernandez who tied for fifth place in 4:29.66.
Senior duo Patryk Rozenek and Abram Hagedorn saw podium finishes in the 100-yard backstroke. Rozenek took bronze with a time of 46.93, and Hagedorn took eighth with a time of 48.37.
The 100-yard breaststroke saw freshman Dante Nicole Rho place fourth accompanied by Nojus Bertulis in fifth with marks of 54.12 and 54.19 respectively.
Senior Jackson Lustig highlighted the night as he broke the GLVC and pool records taking home his fourth consecutive 200-yard butterfly title. Lustig swam a time of 1:42.32 and is currently ranked first in DII this year and is the all time record holder. Senior Archie Minto took bronze with a time of 1:45.20, followed in suit by freshman Vova Gavrysh in 1:45.25. Senior Alireza Yavari took home sixth place in 1:46.77 to put four Bearcats on the podium.
The quadrant of Gavrysh, Rozenek, senior Aurthur Souza, and junior Tyson Upton took second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:18.79.
The Bearcats are currently in first place after day four of competition with 1275.5 points. Tomorrow's final day of action will see the 1-meter dive, 1650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, and 400 freestyle relay.
