LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree University women's volleyball is set to open their 2025 season by hosting the McKendree Invitational this weekend. The Bearcats kickoff the Invitational with a 7:00 p.m. game on Thursday, September 4th followed by another 7:00 p.m. game on Friday, September 5th. They close out the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. game on Saturday, September 6th.
In McKendree's first game on Thursday, September 4th, they will face the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a member of the Great American Conference. The two teams have only met twice, in 2016 and 2024, where the Bulldogs took their last match up 1-3.
The Bearcats will then face the Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth, a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, in their match on Friday, September 5th. The two teams will compete for the first time since 2012, where the Bulldogs won in five sets.
In the final day of the McKendree Invitational, the Bearcats will face the Michigan Technological University Huskies, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in their first game on Saturday, September 6th. The two teams met in 2021 and 2024, where McKendree took their last match up 3-1. The Bearcats will conclude the Invitational facing the Lions of Purdue University Northwest, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The two teams have met three times historically and the Bearcats have a 3-0-win record against the Lions.
All games will be held at the Melvin Price Convocation Center, where admission will be $10 a person. Admission for students and children five and under is free. All games will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network. For more information visit the McKendree Invitation Tournament Central.
