EVANSVILLE, Ind. – McKendree Men's Swim and Dive was highlighted by the performances of Vova Gavrysh and Daniel De Oliveira on the third day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Swim and Dive Championships Thursday night at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Daniel De Oliveira swam 46.76 to claim a second-place finish for the Bearcats. Phineas Theall and Joey Ovanic were closely behind him, finishing in fourth and fifth with times of 47.48 and 47.88 respectively. Carson Olson finished within the top 16 in the event, closing out the event with a time of 48.69.
Tyler Bardak earned himself a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, where he finished with a time of 3:48.50. Caden Brooks finished inside the top 10 with a 3:54.09, claiming ninth in the event.
The highlight of the day came from Vova Gavrysh where he took gold in the 200-yard freestyle swimming 1:34.74. Tyson Upton came in ninth in the event, finishing with a time of 1:37.58. Sitting within the top 16 are Jakub Rynkiewicz and Miguel Carvalhosa. Rynkiewicz finished in 11th with 1:38.38 and Carvalhosa finished in 16th with 1:40.71.
Ending the day with a bronze medal was the team of Ovanic, De Oliveira, Nojus Bertulis, and Theall finishing with 3:10.70 in the 400-yard medley relay.
In the one meter diving, Adin Peper finished in fifth with a total score of 378.35.
Next, the team will be competing in the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard butterfly on the fourth day of the GLVC Championships.
