Three Bearcats Named First Team All-GLVC in Women's Soccer

Stiffler, Bova, Knoebel named first-team, Knutson receives sportsmanship honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference released its 2021 Women's Soccer All-GLVC teams and major award winners on Friday afternoon with three Bearcats earning All-GLVC First Team. The three Bearcats voted to the first team were senior midfielder Emma Knoebel (Maryville, Illinois), junior defender Morgan Bova (Troy, Missouri), and sophomore forward/midfielder Anna Stiffler (O'Fallon, Missouri). Senior defender Danielle Knutson received the GLVC's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honors from the league as well.

All three Bearcats voted to the first team received all-conference honors following the unconventional spring 2021 season with Knoebel, the Collinsville Kahoks-product, now earning back-to-back All-GLVC first team. Knoebel, prior to injury this year, shot out of the gate with a GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award on September 13 (release). The senior midfielder has amassed three scores with one assist and seven total points during her 1000 minutes this fall. Knoebel served as the go-to for penalty kicks to with two PK scores and two game-winners with those scores.

The defender Bova, a product of Troy Buchanan, earns her first All-GLVC first team after being voted to the league's third team last spring. While leading a stifling back line for the Bearcats, Bova also collected one goal, one assist, and three total points with 17 of 17 games started with nearly 1600 minutes played so far. The defense of McKendree has allowed 0.82 goals per game and 120 total shots (7.1 per game), less than 50 percent of shots being on-frame, and only allowed for 40 corners to be earned by the opposition this fall.

Stiffler, a product of St. Dominic, collected her third All-GLVC award in only her second season, as she earned second team ALL-GLVC and co-freshman of the year in the spring season. The sophomore collected her first All-GLVC first team award with an offensive showing during the fall season, amassing eight goals, five assists, 21 points and three game-winners in 1000-plus minutes of action. In the GLVC, she ranks third in points (21) while being fourth in points per game (1.24), assists (5), and goals (8). Stiffler owns two GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Awards during an outstanding stint in back-to-back weeks (release) at the end of September and beginning of October.
