INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Great Lakes Valley Conference - McKendree University men's soccer (2-0-2) collected another GLVC weekly award as freshman goalkeeper
Christian Herluf earned Defensive Player of the Week, as announced the the league office on Monday afternoon. The Bearcats went unbeaten in conference play with a pair of draws at Christian Brothers (1-1) and against Northeastern State (0-0), finishing 2-0-2 as they head into conference play. Over the season-opening span, Herluf and the Bearcats' defensive line allowed just three goals with two shutout victories. McKendree opens its GLVC season on Friday, September 15 at Rockhurst before heading to William Jewell on September 17.
Herluf, a native of Odder, Denmark, played two more full-time games for McKendree, staying unbeaten in-goal and allowing a single score over the 180 minutes of action. Against CBU, Herluf gathered three saves while allowing one score. The Northeastern State matchup proved to be another tough battle with Herluf collecting four saves in his second shutout contest. On the year, the freshman has 11 saves with two shutouts with a goals allowed average of 0.75 and a save percentage of 0.786.
The weekly award makes it back-to-back selections for McKendree as sophomore defender/midfielder
