KANSAS CITY, Mo. | United Soccer Coaches - McKendree University men's soccer closed out its season this past week in the national semifinal but continued to garner postseason honors as senior midfielder
Philipp Schmidt (Heidelberg, Germany) collected All-American honors from United Soccer Coaches as he earned Third Team honors while also being named NCAA Division II All-Tournament team. The senior finished off his time in a McKendree kit leading the Bearcats to a multitude of program feats, including the team's first trip to the Round of 16, Round of Eight, and National Semifinals while collecting three All-GLVC selections along with multiple All-Region nods as well as All-American laurels this fall. Schmidt was the lone All-American selection from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Schmidt closes out his time as a Bearcat with his first All-American selection, garnering a Third Team selection. The senior midfielder earned First Team All-Midwest following another impressive season leading the Bearcats, which was proceeded by other postseason laurels via D2CCA and the GLVC. On the year, the midfielder leads the squad in goals (7), assists (6), and points (20) while firing three game-winning scores while logging just under 1900 minutes going into the semifinal round. His previous postseason nods include D2CCA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-GLVC. He has put up single-season highs for his career in all major categories while starting all 23 games for McKendree, including 12 games playing full-time. Schmidt, for his performance in the national postseason tournament, collected another award as he was named All-Tournament Team.Â

The historic season concluded for the Bearcats in the semifinal round, which marked McKendree's first national semifinal appearance of the DII era. The Bearcats' campaign was highlighted by both team and individual successes, including the first unbeaten regular season slate (11-0-6) while adding a multitude of postseason award nods along with major award selections for sophomore goalkeeperÂ
