INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Senior libero Ashlyn Berczynski earns herself defensive player of the week honors after leading the McKendree women's volleyball team defensively in a split weekend (1-1). This gives Berczynski her first conference defensive weekly honor.
Head coach Miranda Rodriguez gave the following on Berczynski's accomplishment:
"Ashlyn has been putting in so much work this season for herself and the team. I couldn't be prouder of this accomplishment and know she will continue to exemplify high standards for our team every day."
Berczynski recorded 47 digs over 7 total sets played against Quincy (Oct. 3rd) and Illinois Springfield (Oct. 4th). In the match against Quincy, Berczynski finished with 17 digs. This match was highlighted by Berczynski marking her 1,000th career dig as a Bearcat. In the team's 4 set win over Illinois Springfield, Berczynski picked up 30 digs. This gave her a career high in digs in a single match. Berczynski also grabbed a career high in assists in the contest with Illinois Springfield recording 12 assists, 13 on the weekend.
