(LEBANON, Ill., April 27)--
The McKendree University baseball team will look to send its seniors out on a high note this weekend when the Bearcats host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series. The games have been pushed back to Sunday and Monday due to the weather forecast, with first pitch each day set for noon.

McKendree enters the weekend with a 12-29 season record and a 1-19 mark in GLVC play. Half of the Bearcats' 12 wins this season have come at Hypes Field, which will host McKendree for the final time in the 2017 campaign. The Bearcats last played at home on Monday, where they were swept in the GLVC twinbill by Saint Joseph's College. That four-game set with the Pumas was also delayed due to weather.. In fact, all four GLVC home series for McKendree this season have been adjusted because of Mother Nature.

Prior to Sunday's game, McKendree will honor 17 seniors who are wrapping up their careers for the Bearcats. The large group includes pitchers Terry Deaville (Rantoul, IL/Rantoul), Matt Henning (Wichita, KS/Bishop Carroll), Brad Henry (Godfrey, IL/Alton), Dylan Salsman (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell), Austin Starkweather (Herrin, IL/Herrin), Daniel Todoschuk (Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada/Saltfleet), Cam Waltsgott (Belleville, IL/Mascoutah) and Matt Wasche (Kansas City, MO/Rockhurst), catcher Chris Deaville (Rantoul, IL/Rantoul), infielders Isaac Fisher (Washington, IL/Washington), Cody Hall (Harrisburg, IL/Harrisburg) and Matt Walsh (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South), and outfielders Colton Calhoun (Mt. Zion, IL/Mt. Zion), Ryan Cates (Anderson, IN/Yorktown), Brad Groleau (Peru, IL/St. Bede Academy), Jay Roberts (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North) and Austin Schwarm (Farina, IL/South Central). This represents the largest senior class in the Bearcats' NCAA Division II era, which dates back to 2013.

Groleau and Fisher are two of three McKendree starters hitting above .300. Groleau leads the squad at .319, while Fisher is close behind at .314. Hayden Bodine (Washington, IL/Washington) rounds out the trio at .305. Groleau has also solidified his lead in two other statistical categories as he starts the weekend with six home runs and 24 runs batted in. Wasche continues to lead the Bearcats' pitching staff with four victories, while Henning has a team-low 3.71 ERA and five saves on the year.

Following the series with Wisconsin-Parkside, McKendree will head north to Romeoville, Ill., to close out its 2017 season with a four-game series at Lewis University. The Bearcats and Flyers will square off in doubleheaders set for Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.
