Ed distinguished him as a dual threat on the mound and at the plate during a stellar four-year career at McKendree. A four-time American Midwest Conference All-Conference honoree and two-time All-Region recipient, Ed captured AMC Freshman of the Year recognition in 1999 and was named the league’s Player of the Year during his senior season of 2002. That year, he led the Bearcats with a .388 batting average, 11 home runs and 54 runs batted in. Ed also tied for the team lead with nine victories on the mound. He holds or shares eight different McKendree team records, including career marks for runs batted in (255) and hit by pitch (66). Ed is also second on the career home run list with 49, and ranks among career leaders in the pitching department with 28 wins and 282 strikeouts. In a March 25, 2000 game against Iowa Wesleyan College, Ed demonstrated his all-around baseball prowess for Bearcat fans. He pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and added two home runs with five RBI at the plate.
