Matt enjoyed one of the most prolific careers in McKendree men’s basketball history. He was a four-time NAIA All-American selection, garnering first-team honors in each of his final two seasons. Matt was also a two-time American Midwest Conference Player of the Year honoree, and began his career by earning AMC Freshman of the Year accolades in 1999-2000. As a senior in 2002-03, Matt helped lead McKendree to a record of 34-4 and its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Final Four. For his efforts, Matt became the first athlete in McKendree history to receive NAIA National Player of the Year honors. In his four years with the Bearcats, Matt amassed a school-record 2,874 points along with the 1,522 rebounds, 560 blocked shots and 446 assists. He averaged 20.4 points and 10.8 rebounds at McKendree, and scored in double figures in each of the last 74 games of his Bearcat career. In addition to the point total, Matt continues to hold McKendree career records for field goals made (1,219) and blocked shot (560). He also sits atop the program’s list for single-season scoring (891), ranks third in both career field goal percentage (.629) and rebounds (1,522) and is fourth in career assists (446) and steals (182).
