George earned seven varsity letters: four in basketball, two in baseball and one in golf. As a Bearcat guard, Tip completed his collegiate cager career posting a double-digit per-game point average of 10.8. The president of his freshmen class, Tip not only presided over his class but also rule the hoop, netting 72 points as a freshman. In his sophomore year, he made the strings sing again, almost tripling his first year rate, hitting the hole for a 211 point total. Tip continued his precision shooting as a junior and senior, hovering at the .500 mark in field goal shooting percentage. His accuracy directly contributed to the Bearcat’s chalking up two conference championships and a tie for a third conference title. Tip’s talent also extended to the baseball diamond where he could be found anchoring the Bearcats’ infield defense at third base. Tip, along with his 1953-54 Bearcat teammates, captured the Prairie College Conference Crown.
