Karen (Eversgerd) Hoelscher was one ofthe most dominant volleyball players during her era at McKendree. Karen's play at the net and in the back row made her a dominating force for opposing players, and allowed her to be one of the first to rewrite the Bearcats' volleyball record book.
A two-time All-Conference performer, Karen established many McKendree career records that still ranked in the top five at the time of her induction. She remains the Bearcats' career leader with 667 blocks, and is the only player in program history with consecutive seasons of at least 250 blocks (1991 and 1992). In addition, Karen ranks third in career service aces with 180, and is fifth all-time with 1,096 digs and a kill percentage of .330. In 1992, Karen set a new program mark with 78 service aces, a record that still stood at the time of induction.
